Kim Weaver is running for Congress in Iowa’s 4th Congressional District as the Democratic challenger. Kim has a proven track record of advocating for Iowans in the District and believes that the people of Iowa’s 4th District need and deserve a real voice in Congress. Issues that are important to our livelihood as well as our quality of life have been ignored and replaced with partisan grandstanding. It is time to send someone to Congress who believes it is better to get things done for the people than it is to make political statement. Kim is exactly that person.
Beth Wessel-Kroeschell: Iowa House District 45

Beth is serving her 6th term in the Iowa House of Representatives. She is Ranking member of the Human Resources Committee. She also serves on the Public Safety and Environmental Protection committees, and the Health and Human Services Appropriations Subcommittee. Beth was born and raised in Ames. Following graduation from Ames High, she earned her BA from the University of Northern Iowa, and her MPA from Iowa State University. Beth is a former high school English teacher and has done substantial work in non-profit administration. She was on the board of ACCESS, a battered women’s shelter, for four years and served as their president. She was chair of the Story County Equal Rights Amendment campaign in 1992. Beth has also served on her church council in various capacities, served on the Planned Parenthood Community Council in 1994, and worked for the Iowa Farmers Union and the Association of Boards of Certification.
Lisa Heddens: Iowa House District 46

First elected to the Iowa Legislature in 2002, Lisa is the representative for the Iowa House District 46 in Ames, Iowa, and currently serves on the Appropriations, Administrative Rules and Regulations, Economic Development and Human Resources committees. She is also the ranking member of the Health and Human Services Budget committee. Lisa and her family moved to Ames in 1984. She received her degree in elementary education from Iowa State University. Her daughter Makenzie also graduated from and is currently employed at Iowa State University. Lisa’s son Paul is a recent graduate of Gilbert High School.
Lauris Olson: Story County Supervisor (4 Year)

Lauris reported on Story County government for a decade. She also has been a reporter, editor and radio news director in Alaska, Wisconsin and other newspapers in Iowa, spending a total of two decades covering local, state and tribal governments. Lauris also has a financial management background, ending that first career in the late 1980s as an assistant vice president and the Dallas/Fort Worth branch manager for a national mortgage company. Combined, her management positions at two Fortune 500 companies, her ownership of a small, local internet business and her journalism career have honed Lauris' budget creating, analyzing and oversight skills.Lauris undertook an in-depth two-year job shadow of the job of Story County Supervisor, beginning in 2012. During that time, Lauris attended over 300 county-related meetings and studied over 1,000 documents.
Linda Murken: Story County Supervisor (2 Year)

Linda worked for 33 yearsas Director of the Department of Correctional Services for the Second Judicial District (22 counties in north central Iowa). As director she developed alternatives to incarceration to safely and more effectively supervise offenders in the community, at a fraction of the cost of incarceration. While director she also worked with community leaders to establish the Story County Criminal Justice/Mental Health Task Force and Jail Diversion Program, to reverse the trend of inappropriately incarcerating those suffering from mental illness. Previously she served as a Probation and Parole Officer in Story County. –Linda was the first woman probation officer in the state of Iowatosupervise adult male offenders.
Lucy Martin: Story County Auditor

Lucy Martin’s service to Story County began in 2004 when she became the deputy county auditor for Real Estate. On January 31, 2011, she was unanimously appointed by the bipartisan Board of Supervisors as the Story County Auditor & Commissioner of Elections.The Auditor is responsible for a wide variety of duties and Lucy has the in-depth experience to expertly manage these broad responsibilities. She brings over 20 years of relevant experience to the table to work for all the citizens of Story County. She also has excellent working relationships with her fellow public officials at the county, municipal, township and state levels. Prior to moving to Iowa, Lucy worked on economic development and housing issues in New York City’s Mayor’s Office of Management & Budget. Lucy Martin graduated with a BA from Rice University in 1990 and earned a Masters in Public Administration with a concentration in management from Columbia University in 1994.
