AT AN EARLY VOTING LOCATION: Any resident of Story County can register and vote at any early voting location. The Auditor’s Office is open for Early Voting beginning 20 days before an Election. Additional Satellite Voting Locations change and will be posted here when they are announced.

AT YOUR POLLING LOCATION ON ELECTION DAY: If you miss the deadline, you can register to vote at your polling location on election day. Find your polling location here. Registering on Election Day  will take longer, so preregeristing is  recommended.

VOTE!

ABSENTEE VOTING (VOTE BY MAIL)

To receive an Absentee Ballot, you need to first submit a ballot request form. This can only be done with a paper form delivered or mailed to the County Auditor. Download the form here, it is postage paid. Include your FULL address including Room or Apt #.

The ballot request must be received 15 days before an Election. Twenty days before an Election, ballots will begin to be mailed to voters on a rolling basis. Returned ballots MUST be received by the Auditor by Election Day to be counted. Return the ballot as soon as possible.

If you miss the return deadline, bring your ballot to your polling location on Election Day to surrender to the poll workers and vote normally. If you lose your ballot, go to your voting location on Election Day and poll workers will help you vote.

EARLY & SATELLITE VOTING:

Any resident of Story County may early vote at the Auditor’s Office beginning 20 days before an Election or at a Satellite Voting Location on the dates TBD.

ELECTION DAY

Vote at your polling location, the “traditional” way. It will be easier to vote in Ames since you live in Ames, whereas it may be hard or impossible to travel home on Election Day. Bring ID and Proof of Residency. Find your polling location here:
