County Board of Supervisor Districts

Under Senate File 75 (passed in 2025), Story County is required to elect county supervisors by district, instead of the at large system used in past elections.

The district map was prepared by the Legislative Service Bureau and approved by the Board of Supervisors and received formal technical approval by the Secretary of State.

The three supervisors currently in office will serve until the end of 2026.

All three supervisor seats will be on the 2026 primary and general election ballot. Districts 1 will have a two year term, and districts 2 and 3 will have four year terms. Term lengths were determined by random drawing, so that supervisor terms will not all expire in the same year in the future, Candidates must live in their districts, and voters will only vote in the contest for their own district.

Supervisor elections will return to four year staggered terms in 2028. District 1 will be on the ballot in 2028; districts 2 and 3 will be on the 2030 ballot. Districts will be redrawn in 2031 to reflect the results of the 2030 census.
