Absentee Voting:

Lucy Martin, Story County Auditor and Commissioner of Elections, encourages all voters to consider absentee voting via the postal system. “Absentee voting by mail has been widely utilized in Iowa for decades. It is a very safe and secure process. If you’ve never used it before, the time has never been better,” said Martin.

Any registered voter may request that the form be mailed to then by clicking here—>>https://tinyurl.com/ybsnqece

Story County residents may print the form linked below, fill it out, and return it to the Story County Auditor. The address is on the form that you fold so it doesn't need an envelope. It’s postage-paid. It must be received in the Auditor’s Office by Oct. 23rd. Don’t delay mailing your request.

Plan to return your Absentee Ballot ASAP! You may use the secure drop box located at the Auditor’s Office at 900 6th St in Nevada. We will also deliver your ballot to the Auditor if you bring it to our office at 415 Main St in Ames on Saturdays from 8 am to 12:30 pm and all day on Election Day. Make sure your ballot is in the Auditor’s office by the closing of the polls on Election Day. Please note that the USPS does not use a dated postmark so do not rely on postmarks to make sure your vote is counted!

Absentee voting is safe, secure and convenient. Don't worry about social distancing, weather, or last-minute scheduling difficulties that might keep you from being able to vote in person on Election Day. When Democrats vote, Democrats win! If you cannot print the form, Story County residents may email storycountydemocrats@gmail.com with your name and address and we will get one for you.
