TOPIC: Book "Social Security: the Phony Crisis" by Dean Baker and Mark Weisbrot (Baker is a well-known economist in the news a lot these days. Weisbrot is an economist and co-director of the Center for Economic and Policy Research.)

In reading and hearing the news lately, not a day goes but that we are told that Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid are the cause of our national debt. These programs need to be "reined in". The commission appointed by President Obama have laid this on the table and their report will be issued after the November elections. We need to be ready with information and the ability to counteract what is being said by our congress people and the pundits. If others of you have info elsewhere on this topic, please share.
We have just ordered this book from amazon.com and are willing to share it in the coming weeks. The Ames Library will order it from another library and will let us know when it arrives there.
