Christie Vilsack Caucuses in Home County
Ames, Iowa--4th District Congressional candidate Christie Vilsack caucused in her home county--Story County with 848 fellow caucus goers, Tuesday night. She also participated in the pre-caucus rally held by the Party in support of both President Barack Obama's and her candidacies.
The rally began at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, in the Ames High School cafeteria.
“We wanted to celebrate President Obama’s historic 2008 presidential victory that started right here in Iowa as well as Christie Vilsack's run for Congress,” County Chair Jan Bauer said. The rally included food, live music by The Gist and speeches from local Story County office holders.
Delegates from all 43 precincts in the county heard from Christie Vilsack and viewed a live-streamed presentation from the White House, featuring the president himself, Bauer said.
Democrats then caucused with their individual precincts in the cafeteria or in classrooms in the high school. The main business of the evening was to elect precinct officers and select convention delegates.
